All Saints Offering 2016
All Saint's Offering 2016
The Canons of the ICCEC require every Church to take up a Mission Offering on All Saint's Sunday (Sunday closest to 1 November). This offering is then given to the Primate's Office and he distributes the money for various projects.
It was decided by the North American Primate's Council that monies raised through the All Saint's mission offering would be distributed to our churches in Africa. For the past several years we have given the money to the General Secretaries, who in consensus with the Bishops in their region, have established micro-business projects. The profits from these projects in being used for the development of the Diocese, constructing buildings, providing transportation, providing theological education, and other projects that the Bishops believe are important. In addition, some monies are given to assist the General Secretary in ministering into various crisis situations.
You can read the reports and see the projects on our websites. ICCEC News and Missions. It is exciting. It is my hope that these micro businesses will empower the African Church way into the future.  It is my hope that this year we can even expand the project.
I have been in ministry long enough to have heard just about every excuse for not giving or not taking up an offering. But those excuses are based on a faulty premise which is "when I get some extra money, I will give." Though that sounds good it is not in accordance with Biblical teaching. Stewardship is not about giving in the future it is what we are doing with what we have right now. It is in giving, that we receive. In fact, it is more blessed to give than to receive. And, if we give it will be given unto us.
When we take up the Mission Offering we are opening ourselves up to participation in something so much bigger than our local concerns or even our personal concerns. We are able to sow seed into the advancement of God's Kingdom around the world. We are impacting the lives of thousands.
I know each of us wants to give. Walk by faith. Give from the heart. Give in response to the Lord Holy Spirit asking us to give. We can expect great things to happen.
Under His mercy,
The Most Rev. Craig W. Bates,

frconkleFr. Victor Conkle has announced his book, The Revelation of Jesus Christ: An Introduction, is finished, published and released. It is available now on Amazon. Here is a direct link

“I am honored to have both our Patriarch Craig Bates and Bishop Doug Kessler write forwards for this book” said Fr. Victor. “It is at their encouragement I undertook this project. I trust you will find this biblical and historical perspective a refreshing change from all the fantasy novels being written.” The following is an excerpt from the book:

THE REVELATION CAN SEEM complex and difficult to read, much less to understand. Seven of this, three of that, and 200 million of them, all mixed in with bowls, woes, and scrolls--it can be daunting. It makes a person wonder why this strange, mysterious book was ever added to the biblical canon. Was the Revelation ultimately slapped onto the end of the Bible with a groan and the utterance, "Let someone down the road figure it out?" In fact, Revelation is pretty much the opposite of "hidden" or "mystery," as indicated by the very title, "Apocalypse," "Revelation," or "revealed." The title of the book itself means "to reveal, or to make known." In Matthew 24, Jesus said, "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only" (verse 36). Father God will reveal it; and He did. He revealed it to His Son, who then revealed it to John. The only difference between the Olivet Discourse in the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke and the words in Revelation is that in the Gospel passages Jesus talks about what will happen within that generation, whereas in Revelation, He tells John that it has now been revealed and is about to happen: "Very soon." "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw." Revelation 1:1-2

Father Conkle first entered the ministry in 1968 with the Assemblies of God. His study of The Revelation of Jesus Christ created in him a desire for a liturgical and sacramental form of worship. In 1997 this led him to the Charismatic Episcopal Church and in 2001 he was ordained as a priest. His academic credentials include a Master of Ministry and an earned Doctor of Sacred Letters degree. Dr. Conkle ministers at Saint Michael’s Cathedral in San Clemente, California and is an adjunct professor at St. Michael’s Seminary.

This conference is open to a limited number of attendees, ages 18 to 30, looking for a unique learning experience that will develop the spiritual and practical components every leader needs to answer God's call on your life - whether that call is to ministry, the work force, or within your community.
The Pilgrimage to Life & Leadership Conference will take place July 12th-17th. We suggest that attendees (especially those traveling from America) arrive in Madrid by Sunday, July 10th, in order to arrive in Salamanca by Monday evening.

JULY 12th - 17th, 2016
The first portion of the conference will be held July 12th & 13th in the city of Salamanca. This will include two days of extensive training with Bishop Elmer Belmonte from Madrid and Fr. Terry Gensemer of CEC For Life.

On July 14th, attendees will begin a four day pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago, arriving at Santiago de Compostela by July 17th for a final mass.

This conference is designed to develop leaders. We are looking for young people who demonstrate maturity in their Christian walk and who desire intense leadership training for the future.
Each attendee must complete the 2016 Pilgrimage to Life & Leadership Application in order to attend. (Be sure to also download the .) Conference Registration is $30 per attendee, which includes a t-shirt and certificate.
Because attendance is extremely limited, applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis -- and submissions are now open.  Please note that there are only 25 spots available:
  •  4 are available to Americans (2 of which are reserved for American winners of the 2016 Life & Leadership Essay Contest), and
  • 21 are available to Europeans (2 of which are also reserved for European winners of the 2016 Life & Leadership Essay Contest).

We thought you'd never ask! CEC For Life will sponsor 4 young leaders who would like to attend this conference - 2 Americans, and 2 Europeans.

To enter the essay contest, you will be required to submit the completed 2016 Pilgrimage to Life & Leadership Application (and Reference Letter Forms) along with an 8-10 page essay written in response to the following:

Support your answer by discussing at least one relevant example of a leader who brought about significant change. Discuss this leader's successes and failures that occurred along the way.
  • To be considered, your essay and completed application (with References) must be received no later than Tuesday, May 10th via mail (See Application Pg. 4 for further details).
